People’s National Party (PNP) President Mark Golding endorses Stacy Knight as a candidate for St Andrew North Eastern, portraying her as a beacon of the future during the opening of her new constituency office.
From the outset, Golding shares that he was unequivocal in his support for Knight’s candidacy, revealing his initial excitement when she first expressed interest in running. “I must tell you, I was so thrilled when Stacey indicated that she was of the desire to put her name forward to run for these elections coming up… what it shows is that the People’s National Party is attracting young people of quality to the movement,” Golding said.
Golding shared behind-the-scenes insights into the candidate selection process, revealing that he initially had a different constituency in mind for Knight—one he believed would offer a smoother path to victory. But Knight, he said, was resolute.
“However, that’s when I met the steel part of the ‘Knight.’ Because she was not for turning. Her mind and heart were set on this constituency of St Andrew North Eastern, and she told me in no uncertain terms that this is where she wanted to run,” he added.

Highlighting Knight’s wide-ranging academic and professional background, Golding celebrated her as a symbol of the modern Jamaican woman.
“She has a range of skills… How many people do you know who have a degree in computer science, educational psychology, and law, and end up being a successful practitioner? So you have the quintessential modern woman as your representative.”
Golding addressed the incumbent MP of St Andrew North Eastern, Delroy Chuck, describing him as past his political prime.
“The person she’s going up against is really in the twilight of his political career… He can hardly move alone. I’ve been watching him in Parliament. He’s virtually immobile… ‘Time come’ for North East St Andrew to have a young, vibrant, talented, committed, accessible, and loving person to represent the people,” he continued.
Affirming his belief that Knight’s candidacy aligns with the PNP’s national momentum, Golding urges constituents to render their support. “Our party has the momentum. Our party runs the ground. Our party is going to deliver a historic victory on the 3rd of September. PNP time come. Time come for a better life.”
