Leader of the Opposition Mark Golding on Tuesday joined students, teachers, and community members in downtown Kingston for Peace Day activities, including a march involving several schools in the area.

Students from Central Branch All-Age School, North Street Primary, North Street Congregational Primary, and other institutions participated in the observance, which forms part of Peace Day 2026 activities being held under the theme ‘Rebuild Jamaica Piece by Peace’.

Students and staff from Edward Seaga Infant School, which was attended by three-year-old Zaylon Pinnock, also joined the march.

Golding said the participation of the students served as a powerful reminder of the importance of nurturing peace and compassion within communities, especially in light of recent events that have deeply affected the nation.

“It was truly heartening to see our children walking together and calling for stronger bonds of friendship and love among our people. Our children deserve to grow up in communities where they feel safe, supported, and valued. Let us give peace a chance, let peace reign, and let love abide,” Golding said.
