Golding names 18-member Junior Shadow Cabinet

Opposition Leader Mark Golding has unveiled a Junior Shadow Cabinet of 18 individuals in move he says marks the delivery of a campaign promise to to establish it as part of the People’s National Party’s (PNP) thrust to
integrate more young people into its spheres of influence.

The Junior Shadow Cabinet, the PNP said, presents young leaders with a new opportunity to engage in critical national discussions related to education, health, gender, the economy, national security and other policy areas.

The 18 young Jamaicans who make up its membership will be responsible for portfolios primarily aligned with those of the Opposition’s Shadow Cabinet.

“This allows for the sharing of ideas and the integration of youth voices into the work of the Opposition’s Shadow Cabinet and the party in a tangible way.”

According to the PNP, while the members of the Junior Shadow Cabinet team will act autonomously, it will have a working relationship with The Opposition’s Shadow Cabinet by serving on the task forces related to their portfolios.

“This allows for the sharing of ideas and the integration of youth voices into the work of the Opposition’s Shadow Cabinet and the party in a tangible way,” the PNP said.

The Junior Shadow Cabinet will be chaired by Senator Gabriela Morris, the Opposition’s Shadow Minister of Youth.
