Google Classroom is set to transform the traditional classroom experience with the introduction of interactive questions for YouTube videos.

Educators worldwide can now seamlessly integrate interactive lessons into their curriculum, turning passive video watching into an engaging learning experience.

This innovative feature allows educators to embed questions throughout YouTube videos, enabling students to actively participate and deepen their understanding of the subject matter. The system encourages a dynamic learning environment, where students have the space to make mistakes, review incorrect answers, and assess correct responses at their own pace.

The impact of this development extends to both administrators and end-users. By harnessing the power of interactive YouTube video assignments, educators gain valuable insights into student engagement levels. The post-video activity dashboard provides key metrics, aiding in the identification of concepts that may require additional instruction time and pinpointing students who may need extra support.

The interactive questions feature not only benefits students but also empowers educators to shape future lesson plans. Real-time validation of student responses allows for the scaling of individualised support, ensuring that each student receives the attention they need to excel.

Administrators play a crucial role in enabling this feature by turning on YouTube as an additional service for educators through the Admin console. The roll-out is set to be swift, with full visibility expected within 1-3 days, starting on December 12, 2023.

Educators, empowered by their administrators, can now create, delete, grade, and track interactive questions for YouTube videos. The “Resources” tab in the Classroom’s left navigation serves as the central hub for managing all video activities and practice sets, providing educators with a streamlined approach to incorporating interactive elements into their teaching.

This feature is available to Education Plus and the Teaching and Learning Upgrade, marking a significant step towards a more interactive and engaging learning experience for students and educators alike.
