Google had a little Independence Day gift for Jamaican users of its website this morning.
On logging on to the website, users are being treated to an Independence Day Google Doodle, depicting the National Flag in a temporarily adjusted Google logo.
In clicking on the logo, users are provided with information around Jamaica’s Independence Day celebrations, including a South Florida Sun-Sentinel article detailing where to find Jamaican Independence Day parties in that state.
ICING ON THE CAKE
The recognition of their Independence Day by Google could be seen as serving as icing on the cake after Jamaicans basked in the glory of the country’s women sprinters winning gold in the 100m relay at the Tokyo Olympics for the first time in 17 years.
A Google Doodle is described as a special, temporary alteration of the logo on Google’s homepages which is intended to commemorate holidays, events, achievements, and notable historical figures of particular countries.
