Reporting a crime in Jamaica has been deemed significantly difficult by some citizens across Jamaica.
In a Twitter thread yesterday (July 20), multiple persons from across the island recalled their interactions with the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) 119 operation system.
There were several reports of persons stating that when they call the police hotline they are directed to contact their local police station.
Citizens said when they inform operation agents that they do not know the number of their local police station, they are met with no assistance. Noting that this makes it difficult for them to report criminal activities, they urged the JCF to allocate one number where all reports can be made.

Soon after Kerry-Ann Morgan’s Tweet (shown above), other Jamaicans from across the island shared their experiences. Many complained that the operators are unprofessional and refuse to help when asked for assistance.

Though many complained that this only occurs when someone is outside of Kingston, Octoberrayn on Twitter said that is not the case.
