The Government of Grenada has partnered with THE WiPay GROUP for a fifth consecutive year to deliver its national school assistance programme through GovPay, the company’s regional digital government payments platform.

The continued partnership marks five consecutive years that Grenadian families have received education assistance through a secure digital payment system, making the initiative one of the Caribbean’s longest-running digital government grant programmes. Since its introduction in 2021, GovPay has enabled the Government to replace paper-based vouchers with secure digital payments that can be redeemed for school uniforms, books, stationery and other approved educational supplies.

Developed by THE WiPay GROUP, GovPay was built to help Caribbean governments modernise the way public funds are distributed. Today, the platform supports multiple government payment initiatives across the region.

Beyond Grenada, GovPay has been deployed by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MLSS) in Jamaica to administer three government intervention programmes, including the latest Relief Opportunity for Outstanding Financial Support (ROOFS) initiative following Hurricane Melissa. Through the programme, GovPay is facilitating the digital distribution of approximately JMD $10 billion in government assistance, representing the platform’s largest deployment to date.

The underlying technology also powers CourtPay in Trinidad and Tobago, providing the Judiciary with a secure digital platform for the electronic payment of court fines and other court-related fees. Together, these implementations demonstrate the flexibility of Caribbean-built payment infrastructure across government collections, citizen services and public assistance programmes.

The Grenada initiative was first introduced in 2021 as the Digitally Enabled Uniform Assistance Programme and has continued through two successive administrations, reflecting the Government’s continued commitment to digital public service delivery.

The partnership was further strengthened in 2024 when the Government of Grenada and THE WiPay GROUP entered into a new three-year agreement to continue operating the platform.
