The Ministry of Telecommunications and Transport and the National Road Operating & Constructing Company Limited (NROCC), have reached a concession with toll road operators, which sees the Jamaica North-South Highway Company Limited (JNSHC) deferring the annual toll rate adjustment until August 20.

The ministry, in a statement on Friday (June 30), indicated that the concession agreement between the Government and the toll road operators provides for an annual review of the toll rates, which typically effected July 1 each year.

However, the ministry noted further that as the existing toll rates for that corridor will remain in effect until August 20, Jamaican motorists will get a reprieve during the summer of 2023 for travel on the Edward Seaga Highway.

The toll adjustment on the P.J. Patterson Highway (East-West), which is operated by TransJamaican Highway Limited (TJH) will be implemented on July 1, as was communicated in the media.

Users of the East-West Highway are encouraged to take advantage of the discounts that are available to T-Tag users. On the East-West Highway all Class-1 T-Tag customers will face no increase in toll rates and Class-2 T-Tag customers will see reduced rates.

The Government thanked the JNSHC for its understanding, arguing that the deferment will go a long way in assisting the Jamaican motoring public.
