Retired Group CEO of GraceKennedy Limited (GKL), the late Honourable Don Wehby, OJ, CD, was celebrated last night at a moving ceremony at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston, marking his induction into the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica’s (PSOJ) prestigious Hall of Fame.

The honour recognises Wehby’s profound and transformative contributions to business, community development, and nation-building over an illustrious career.

In a powerful and permanent tribute to Wehby’s legacy and his deep commitment to GraceKennedy and downtown Kingston, Group CEO of GraceKennedy, Frank James, announced during the ceremony that the company’s global headquarters, located at 42–56 Harbour Street in Kingston, will now be known as The Don Wehby Building.

In his remarks, James underscored the significance of the renaming of the building, which was opened in 2019 during Wehby’s tenure as Group CEO, “Don often spoke of GraceKennedy as a global company headquartered in Jamaica, and for him, the new GK headquarters was far more than a building. It represented a promise that GraceKennedy would proudly remain anchored at home, committed to revitalising downtown Kingston, and to building a future as strong as our past. It is fitting that this building will now bear his name.”

As we honour Don tonight, we recommit ourselves to the GraceKennedy core values he lived by – honesty, integrity, trust, commitment, humility, and respect, and to his unshakable belief in Jamaica’s potential.”

In honour of his lifelong commitment to youth development, James also announced a joint donation of J$1 million from GraceKennedy and the PSOJ to the Grace & Staff Community Development Foundation’s Chairman’s Scholarship Fund.

The fund was founded and championed by Wehby, who also served as Chairman of the Foundation between 2022 and 2025. James explained that the donation will support fifth-form students in Jamaica’s western parishes who were significantly impacted by Hurricane Melissa, helping them complete the current school year and prepare to sit their CSEC examinations with confidence.
