GraceKennedy Limited is deeply saddened by the passing of Chris Bovell, who served with distinction as a director of the company from 1979 to 2010.

Over more than three decades of dedicated service, Bovell made a significant and lasting contribution to GraceKennedy, providing steady leadership, sound judgment, and an unwavering commitment to the company’s growth and governance.

“He was also a strong and consistent advocate for the empowerment and advancement of women into leadership roles across the organisation. During his tenure, he served as Lead Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Corporate Governance & Nomination Committee, roles he held until July 2010, before retiring from the Board in October 2010,” GraceKennedy said in a statement.

“Together with his father before him, the Bovell family served GraceKennedy as legal advisers and board directors from 1965 to 2010, spanning the leadership tenures of four chairmen and chief executive officers, from Luis Fred Kennedy to Douglas Orane. Mr Bovell’s service encompassed a transformative period in the group’s history, and his influence helped to shape the strong foundation on which GraceKennedy continues to build today,” the company said.

GraceKennedy extends its sincere condolences to Bovell’s family, loved ones, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.

“We give thanks for his many years of service and honour his enduring legacy,” it said.
