GraceKennedy Limited (GKL) emerged as the standout performer at the Jamaica Stock Exchange’s (JSE) 2024 Best Practices Awards Ceremony last night, taking home the coveted Governor General Award for Excellence.
The award recognises the listed company that exemplifies international best practices and is chosen as the overall winner of the annual JSE Best Practices Awards.
GK Group CEO, Frank James, said the recognition underscores the Group’s long-standing commitment to excellence, “This award reflects the hard work and professionalism of our entire team across the GraceKennedy Group. It represents years of consistent effort to uphold strong corporate governance, transparency, and accountability.”
He added, “GK remains committed to doing business the right way, strengthening trust among all our stakeholders, and contributing to Jamaica’s development. This honour belongs to every member of our team who lives our values each day – honesty, integrity, trust, commitment, humility and respect.”

GraceKennedy’s exceptional performance also earned the company several other top-tier awards from the JSE throughout the evening. GKL was named winner of the PSOJ/JSE Corporate Governance Award for Main Market companies, winner of the Corporate Disclosure & Investor Relations Award, winner of the Annual Report Award, and first runner-up in the Best Website category.
In a particularly moving moment, the JSE posthumously honoured retired GK Group CEO, the late Honourable Don Wehby, with the CEO of the Year Award, accompanied by a formal citation recognising his extraordinary leadership and lasting impact on GraceKennedy and Jamaica’s wider business community. His daughter, Stephanie Wehby, accepted the honour on behalf of his family and the Group.
The JSE Best Practices Awards highlight and promote excellence among companies listed on the Jamaica Stock Exchange. Each year, organisations across the Main and Junior Markets are recognised for their achievements in corporate governance, transparency, and investor relations, which contribute to the strength and resilience of Jamaica’s capital market.
