Guardsman Armoured Limited is now rebranded as Beryllium Limited.

During the rebranding ceremony, which took place November 30 at the AC Hotel by Marriott in St Andrew, Beryllium Limited unveiled the visual identity of its brand and detailed its expanded high-risk finance and technology services.

The change follows the company’s track record of innovation over its 56-year history, serving virtually every sector, including banking, retail and government.

Under the new brand name of Beryllium Limited, the company will continue to ramp up its technological capabilities to become an outsourcing company for high-risk technology and finance processes.

“We want a brand identity that is directionally aligned with the future vision we are working towards,” explained Lititia Myers-Gray, president and CEO of Beryllium Limited and former managing director of Guardsman Armoured Limited.

Guardsman Armoured has been a trusted name in security, logistics and cash management with a long list of accomplishments. The company began as Brinks Jamaica Limited on August 24, 1965, with one truck, no vault and a handful of clients. Over five decades later, the company had expanded its footprint with five branches served by over 500 team members, a fleet of more than 90 armoured trucks and seven vaults.

A pioneer at its core, it was also the first security company to offer mobile Track and Trace services and Deposit Processing Services. From cash-in-transit services to full currency management to technological and digital support services, the company has continuously pushed the envelope with first-to-market technological advancements.

Guardsman, which began with founder and chairman Kenneth Benjamin’s hobby of training security guards in 1977, redefined itself numerous times over the decades. As the company continues to increase its scope, Guardsman Armoured felt now was the opportune time to rebrand.

“It is said that to be an invincible company requires an organisation to constantly reinvent itself, cultivating an innovation culture and not being confined to traditional industry boundaries.”

Speaking during the launch, Myers-Gray noted that the change was a natural progression, and forms part of the company’s consistent efforts in growth and technological innovation.

She said: “It is said that to be an invincible company requires an organisation to constantly reinvent itself, cultivating an innovation culture and not being confined to traditional industry boundaries. It necessitates a constant cycle of exploring growth opportunities while exploiting current services, searching for new value propositions and profit maximisation.”

She continued: “For the past decade, Guardsman Armoured has been aggressively pursuing innovative ways to improve security delivery and efficiency using technology. We are making this significant change to be a future-ready company”.

Vinay Walia, managing director, Guardsman Group, during his address at the launch of Beryllium Limited, formerly Guardsman Armoured Limited. The launch took place on November 30 at the AC Hotel by Marriott in St Andrew.

Vinay Walia, group managing director, Guardsman Group Limited, shared that the relaunch of Guardsman Armoured to Beryllium Limited stemmed from the company’s commitment to technology and to its philosophy of partnership.

He said: “A key value of Guardsman Group has always been partnership. We have prided ourselves in how well we listen to our clients’ needs. Guardsman Armoured, now Beryllium Limited, astarted as a cash-in-transit company and has evolved over the years as we anticipated the changing needs of our clients in response to technological advancements.”  a

He continued: “Along with the digital innovation that has been steadily championed, the rebrand to Beryllium was necessary and is welcome as it represents the breadth of technology-based solutions we offer our clients. I support the new chapter of over 55 years of legacy and I am extremely proud to be part of this team. I look forward to continued growth, deepening our digital footprint and continuing to partner with our clients.”

PORTFOLIO OF PARTNERSHIPS

Building on big data capabilities with artificial intelligence and interactive technological integration, Beryllium Limited plans to establish a support presence for digital currency and central bank digital currency, successfully integrating additional business process outsourcing clients into their portfolio of partnerships.

They will expand on the traditional currency management services that are provided now, including HR outsourcing, finance and accounting outsourcing services, vault services, customer service outsourcing, business intelligence management and reporting in addition to information technology outsourcing.

“Behind the new look, we are still the same company. As a member of the Guardsman Group, our driving core principle is that of excellent customer service. With our rebrand we are much larger and more technically talented,” said Myers-Gray.

“We are dedicated to providing our clients the best possible services and solutions.”

According to Myers-Gray, the name Beryllium was chosen because it is an element that works behind the scenes to support all areas of our lives.

“It’s in everything, works well under pressure and is agile and very strong,” she said.

“The element Beryllium has made some incredible technological advances possible—enabling us to create more sophisticated, smaller devices that help you, wherever you are and wherever you need to go. A world without Beryllium would be vastly different than what we enjoy today.”
