In the wake of the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa, the Guardsman Group, through the Guardsman Group Foundation, has launched a powerful, islandwide relief initiative to uplift Security Officers and their families who suffered severe losses. Recognising the profound impact on hundreds of team members, the Foundation began delivering vital supplies and will continue these efforts for as long as the need persists.

Hurricane Melissa left entire communities across the island severely affected. Many Guardsman security officers lost homes, belongings, and access to essential resources. In response, the Foundation’s teams assembled and delivered relief packages containing food, water, hygiene supplies, and household necessities directly to affected officers, many of whom continued to serve their posts even as their own families faced significant hardship.

In strengthening national recovery efforts, the Group has organised an emergency blood drive to help address critical shortages across Jamaica’s hospitals. Staff, clients, and members of the public are being encouraged to donate, as demand for life-saving blood supplies remains high.

The community response to the Foundation’s efforts has been overwhelmingly supportive. The Group has received generous contributions from clients and partners, including JetBlue Airways, whose donation will significantly expand the reach of the relief programme.
Sheila Benjamin-McNeill, Managing Director of the Guardsman Group Foundation, expressed deep appreciation for the strength and determination shown by affected officers.
“The devastation has touched so many of our team members in profound ways. Yet their resilience has been nothing short of remarkable. Our goal has been to bring comfort, stability, and practical support to help them regain their footing. This is not just relief, it is reassurance that they are part of a family that will stand beside them every step of the way.”
Hon. Kenneth Benjamin, Executive Chairman of the Guardsman Group, reinforced the Group’s unwavering commitment to its people.
“The Guardsman family is built on loyalty, service, and compassion. When a storm tears through our country, it does more than damage property, it disrupts lives and futures. We cannot and will not leave our people to rebuild alone. Our responsibility is both moral and personal. As long as our officers are hurting, we will continue to show up.”
The Guardsman Group Foundation has already begun planning the next stages of recovery support, including long-term assistance for families with extensive losses to help rebuild. These upcoming programmes will be announced in the weeks ahead as part of the Group’s continued promise to stand with its officers and their communities through recovery and beyond.
