Four teams will be moving on in the Guinness Sounds of Greatness (GSOG) after the completion of the first round at Usain Bolt’s Tracks & Records on Thursday, May 30, 2024.
Throughout the event, six sound systems showcased their ability to mix music and connect with the crowd in 15-minute juggling rounds.
Infinity Sounds, Rockwildaz, Juggling Sensation, and Yush Sound Intl were the top four who qualified the next round.
The event, supported by Renaissance, comes on the same evening as the passing of infamous Renaissance emcee DJ Smoke.

Speaking with Our Today, Renaissance’s DJ 3D shared his thoughts on the passing of his colleague and how DJ Smoke would have reacted to the evening’s proceedings.
“Smoke was a legend and we’re sad that he’s gone and most people might not remember that Smoke started off in dancehall before he went to soca. He was a legend and highly technical as a DJ. I think Smoke would have felt a similar sentiment, as the judges said this evening, about the importance of building a connection with the crowd and he’d probably say some of the contestants are overthinking the juggling a little too much, probably because some of them are nervous.”
3D added, “He thinks the idea of having a stage for young people to showcase what they have to offer is a very good idea and definitely needed in dancehall.”
The event also doubled as a birthday celebration for dancehall icon Spragga Benz.
