Guyana’s Local Government and Regional Development Minister Nigel Dharamlall was reportedly arrested on Monday (June 19) in relation to sexual assault allegations with a minor.
Reports are that Dharamlall has since been released on a $1 million dollar bail.
He is expected to return to the police today (June 20) with his defence team to provide evidence to show that he is not guilty of the allegations laid against him.
Guyana’s president, Irfaan Ali on Sunday (June 18) announced that he has granted the request for Dharamlall to proceed on leave to facilitate the investigation into the matter.
