Guyanese dancehall artiste and social media personality Tavi Badiee was shot dead yesterday (May 30) in Atlanta, Georgia in what police described as a “targeted incident.”
The US based artiste whose real name Teisha Doris, was shot around 4:30 a.m. as her SUV Uber was stopped at a traffic light on Lindbergh Drive in the upscale Buckhead neighborhood.
“Right now, this appears to be a targeted incident,” Deputy Chief Charles Hampton Jr. of the Atlanta Police said, while noting that vehicle the 30-year-old was travelling in was hit over 20 times.
According to media reports, Brodie’s lifeless body was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds in the SUV’s backseat.
There was no word on whether anyone else was hurt. It is also unclear who else was riding in the SUV at the time, but authorities suspect the involvement of multiple shooters.
The police said they are actively searching for a light-colored sedan believed to be connected to the incident.
