After a months-long campaign showcasing the latest offerings of Great Wall Motors (GWM), Stewarts Automotive Group broke ground for a showroom that will further strengthen the Chinese automotive brand’s presence in Jamaica since its arrival in 2020.

The ground-breaking ceremony unfolded at the site of the new showroom at 47 South Camp Road and was attended by an influential cross-section of Jamaica’s automotive, political, and community leaders, including the GWM Showroom project partners Barita Investments and Issa Construction Limited.

The state-of-the-art facility, once completed, will not only showcase the latest vehicles from Great Wall Motors, but will also provide an elevated level of customer service and after-sales support.

Speaking at the event and beaming with pride, Jacqueline Stewart Lechler, Managing Director of Stewart’s Automotive Group noted, “Today is not only a new chapter for Stewart’s Automotive Group but also for Jamaica’s automotive future. The Stewart family has always been committed to introducing the best brands to the Jamaican market. With Great Wall Motors, we are proud to offer an exciting new option for Jamaicans who seek affordable, reliable, and high-quality vehicles.”

James Lechler, business development manager of Caribbean Automotive Network (CAN), shared similar sentiments and outlined his vision for the future of GWM in Jamaica.

“This is just the beginning. We are excited about the potential of Great Wall Motors to transform the local automotive market and play a pivotal role in the Caribbean’s evolving automotive industry. As we move forward with this project, we are focused on delivering vehicles that meet the needs of modern consumers, while contributing to the growth of Jamaica’s automotive sector,” he said.

He underscored the national importance of the GWM project, particularly to the transportation sector.

“This is a major step forward in Jamaica’s vision to modernise its transportation sector. We are excited to see Stewart’s Automotive Group lead the way in bringing affordable, high-quality vehicles to our shores. Their entry into the Chinese automotive market with Great Wall Motors is a bold move that aligns with the global shift toward innovative mobility solutions,” he said.

Vaz added:  “Stewart’s Automotive Group has always been a pioneer in the automotive space, and now they are advancing the future of vehicles for Jamaicans.”
