Erling Haaland is turning his attention to history and heritage by donating a rare Viking manuscript to Bryne, his hometown in Norway.
The Manchester City striker, who grew up in Bryne, teamed up with his father, Alf-Inge Haaland, to purchase the 1594 manuscript for a record price in Norway. The book, based on the works of Snorri Sturluson, tells stories of Viking life, from kings and warriors to everyday people.
Now placed in a local library, the one-of-a-kind manuscript will be available for the public to explore, which will in turn give residents a direct link to their roots. Haaland hopes it sparks curiosity and encourages others to dream big in their own way.
The 25-year-old continues to shine in football as well, leading the scoring charts in the Premier League this season and helping Norway secure a place at the 2026 World Cup, their first appearance at the tournament since 1998.
