
Hanover Charities is set to host its annual charity event ‘The Sugar Cane Ball’ at Round Hill Hotel & Villas in Hopewell, Hanover between Friday (February 18) to Saturday (February 19).
A polo tournament will be held on Friday at Chukka Caribbean and the Sugar Cane Ball at Round Hill on February 19 at 6:00 pm.
The charity, which was founded in 1957, spearheads several initiatives including implementing programmes aimed to strengthen reading and computer skills in communities, soup kitchens and health clinics as well as contributing scholarships to local deserving students.
Hanover Charities is the largest non-profit organisation in the western side of the country and has donated more than US$500,000 in scholarships for Jamaicans to pursue tertiary-level education over the last five years.
In 2016, the charity donated $1 million to the West Haven Children’s home to assist with the needs of the children and the upkeep of the home.
This year’s event is expected to see over 300 participants including socialites, ambassadors, celebrities, and business leaders from the US, Europe and Jamaica.
