A policeman was injured during an attempted robbery of a phone and electronics store in Half-Way Tree, St Andrew, this afternoon.

Reports are that the off-duty lawman intervened after robbers entered and held up the owner of the phone store in Central Plaza about 12:30 p.m.

During a tussle, the policeman discharged one round, resulting in the robbers fleeing the scene.

His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
