Aidonia, born Sheldon Lawrence, today celebrates his 41st birthday. The husband and father of one, became active in the music business as early as 2004.

Throughout the years, the hitmaker has produced several well known tracks including Krayzay, Dat Eazy and Look. As we celebrate the birthday of the effervescent hardcore dancehall artiste, let us take a look at eight of his songs that deserve a spot on your playlist.

The DJ, as usual, will be celebrating his birthday bash during the Easter holiday. For this year, the bash will take place on April 16, at Magaritaville in Ocho Rios, St Ann.

Hardcore dancehall is no longer known to for its veiled lyrics, so be prepared for some raunchy words and expressions ahead.

8. Hot Tool

Released in 2017, the phrase ‘Hot Tool’ translates to a ‘gun’. Mimicking gun noises in the song’s intro, Aidonia celebrates the weapon, while noting that it is not something for naive people or children to play with.

7. Jack Hammer

One of the older tracks on this list, Jack Hammer, done on the Jim Screechie rhythm, is a single about pleasurable intercourse.

In this 2010 hit, however, the DJ spits more lyrics about his abilities and how it makes his partner feel.

6. Breeze

Breeze, a single by Aidonia and Govana, is one where both men boast about their seemingly attractive scent, name brand clothing, and provocative actions.

Breeze, used in the song’s chorus, is a reference to the laundry detergent of the same name.

“Gyal a say me fresh, “A wha’ you bathe with, breeze?”

5. Banga

As is the culture in dancehall music, especially today, Banga, a 2016 track by the artiste, speaks about guns. Banga, in this case, refers to a gun or the sound of a gun.

In this, one of his most popular songs, Aidonia makes reference to the opposing side, describing them as cowards. He goes on to note that, unlike them, the company he keeps prove themselves through action, not talk.

4. Yeah Yeah

Yeah Yeah is a feel good song about braffing (to be boastful) at a party. The DJ talks about the many material things he has on the track.

While partying and ‘wiling out’, the 4th Genna encourages everyone to have a good time while belting the chorus, ‘yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah’.

3. Big Baller

Big Baller is another track in which the DJ flaunts his wealth, material items and star power. In this 2018 track, Aidonia compares himself to French professional footballer, Karim Mostafa Benzema.

Baller in this case is used as a pun, literally meaning football player and also meaning someone extremely good, impressive or excellent/someone who started out with nothing and has now made it to the top.

2. Nuh Boring Gyal

Nuh Boring Gyal is the seventh track from Aidonia’s 2015 album Project Sweat. In this song, Aidonia explains that men are not interested in having a woman who is dull in the bedroom.

It seems, however, that Aidonia does not face that problem, for throughout the track, he mostly deejays about their great time in the bedroom and dubs her a quite an interesting name.

1. Fi Di Jockey

The hitmaker on this track celebrates the physique of a woman and her abilities in the bedroom, which has led him to believe that she is ‘the one’.

One of his most popular tracks, Fi Di Jockey was released on the 2013 EP, Caribbean Girls.
