Today marks a special day for dancehall artiste Ce’Cile, as she is celebrating another wonderful year of life.
Ce’Cile was born Cecile Claudine Charlton on February 24, 1976, in Manchester. She grew up in Porus, and Mile Gully, as she spent most of her youth in Mandeville.
It was through a friend of her father, Third World’s Michael ‘Ibo’ Cooper, that Ce’Cile would discover her love for music.

The artiste first arrived on the music scene in 2001 through a collaboration with Sean Paul called Can You Do The Work.
Since then, the ‘Bad Gyal’ has kept tongues wagging on the dancehall scene with both her lyrics and looks.
One of her most popular hits is the self-produced, shockingly refreshing and thought-provoking smash Changes, designed as a marketing ploy by poking fun at her male counterparts.
Ce’Cile’s signature sound has always been a combination of sultry singing, along with finely honed deejaying that sets her apart from many of her counterparts.

The entertainer has six albums under her belt, including Goody, Jamaicanization, Diary of a Journey, and Bad Gyal.
Overall, Ce’Cile has managed to secure collaborations throughout her career with elite artistes including Trina, Shaggy, Timberland, Beenie Man, Elephant Man, Sean Paul, Gavin Rossdale (rocker and former husband of Gwen Stefani), Spanish songstress Debbie Nova, DJ Fresh, Lady Saw and Olivia.
Ce’Cile has come this far by doing things her own way and being true to herself. Her music is why she is Jamaica’s most loved ‘Bad Gyal’.
Let’s take a trip down memory lane with five of the artiste’s most popular tracks.
