8. One Time (2010)

This is the first single released by the Canadian sensation. A part of his debut album, My World, Bieber explained the meaning behind its lyrical content.

One Time is basically about being in a typical teen relationship, so it’s a song everyone can relate to. You know when you’re younger and you thought it was love, but then later on you realise it was just puppy love? That’s what the song’s about.”

American singer-songwriter, Usher, appears in the accompanying music video.

7. Mistletoe (2011)

Produced by The Messengers, Mistletoe is the lead single from the artiste’s 2011 holiday album, Under The Mistletoe.

Bieber, in an interview, shared that he had not put out an album in a while and thought the upcoming holiday season proved to be ideal for a holiday album.

“It was getting near the holiday season and I hadn’t put out an album in a while, so I was thinking, you know, I had a lot of ideas and I thought maybe I could write a few Christmas songs,” he said. “So I was like, ‘Hey let’s do a Christmas album.’ And I was able to put together a cool Christmas album for all my fans.”

6. Yummy (2020)

The lead single from Justin Bieber’s fifth studio album, Changes, Yummy, an R&B anthem, finds the star shouting out his wife of five years, Hailey Bieber. ‘Yummy’, is a term used to describe something one finds appealing or attractive. Smitten, we hear Bieber reminisce about intimate moments the pair share.

The song was written by Bieber, Jason ‘Poo Bear’ Boyd, and Noah Sammak .

5. What Do You Mean (2015)

“Well, like, girls are often like, they’re just flip-floppy… they say something and then they mean something else, you know? So it’s like, I want to, like: “What do you mean?” Bieber said explaining the meaning behind the song’s title.

The 2015 song was announced a month ahead of its release and served as the third track on the singer’s Purpose album.

In an effort to build anticipation for its release, Bieber would enlist celebrities to help countdown a preview of the song with a sign saying ‘What Do You Mean?’

The song has two accompanying music videos, one from the artiste and another from popular dance group, Royal Family.

4. Love Yourself (2015)

The Benny Blanco-produced track is one of Bieber’s best, and is speculated to be about his former on-and-off girlfriend, American singer and actress, Selena Gomez.

The bitter and caring song was co-written by Bieber and singer Ed Sheeran.

“We [Bieber and Sheeran] wrote a song together and basically it’s one of my favourites on the album. It’s just me and a guitar and basically that’s how I started. I started playing on the street with a guitar and so it’s cool to go back to my roots,” Bieber explained.

3. Sorry (2015)

Of course this list would not be complete without Sorry, one of his most successful hits. This upbeat anthem is one which asks for forgiveness.

The song appears to be an apology to a woman for mistakes he has made. Bieber admitted the track was “a little” about his ex, Gomez, but more so, the track is a general apology to the world for the mistakes he made in the past, including reckless driving and public urination.

“It’s kind of the stamp, the end-all of apologies that I’m giving to people, to the media. There needs to come a time when they just say, ‘We get it,’ and putting out a song saying ‘I’m sorry’ king of puts the icing on the cake. I’m ready to just move on.”

The accompanying music video also features dance group Royal Family.

2. Peaches (2020)

Peaches from the artiste’s Justice album features American singer Giveon and Canadian singer Daniel Caesar. Hailey served as muse for the majority of the Justice album.
