Each artist brings their unique style and energy to the series, which is filmed at the iconic Harry J Recording Studio and produced by Trifactor Studios.
Created by the Managing Director at Harry J Recording Studio, Tara Johnson, the Harry J Live Couch Series has become a staple in the Jamaican music scene, capturing intimate performances that resonate with fans worldwide. Season five commences with Jah Lil, and Johnson expressed her excitement, saying, “The Harry J Live Couch Series has always been about showcasing the essence of Jamaican music in a personal setting.
This season, we’re excited to feature such an extraordinary group of artists who each carry a powerful message and sound on a new couch. It’s also a reminder that after 50 years, the magic that happens at Harry J Studio is still potent and remains a place with so much history and soul.”
The Harry J Live Couch Series will be released on the Harry J Studio’s YouTube page every other week (from November 24, 2024, to January 19, 2025), with one song being premiered on www.reggaeville.com every other Friday, commencing on Friday, November 22.
Season 5 is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Uppsala Reggae Festival and VP Records.
Since its inception in 2020, the Harry J Live Couch Series started as a tribute to Bob Andy when he transitioned; as a celebration of his life and the work he created at Harry J Studio as a friend of the late Harry Johnson, founder of Harry J Recording Studio.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the series evolved as musical therapy for reggae lovers who were unable to experience live shows physically.
Past performances include: Valiant, Projexx, Ras-I, Monifah, KaleX, Joby Jay, Gihrl, Hector Lewis, and Blvk H3ro, among others.
Over the four years, it has set itself apart by offering live music performances to audiences globally through a virtual space where artists can deliver authentic performances that feel personal and resonate deeply.
