Harry Styles has received backlash after winning Album of the Year at the 2023 Grammy awards over Beyonce.
Styles won the award for Harry’s House, making this his third Grammy win.
But while winning a Grammy is a very pivotal and rewarding moment in an artiste’s career, Styles, while celebrating his win, has also had to be facing much resistance.
After the announcement of his award, the viewing public, and even persons in the audience at the awards show showed and expressed disappointment and disapproval.

Styles, in his acceptance speech, paid homage to the other nominees, stating that he had received inspiration from all the artistes nominated in the category, including Kendrick Lamar, Adele, Bad Bunny and, of course Beyonce.
“Beyonce should have won,” a member of the audience exclaimed as he gave his acceptance speech.
It was bad enough that Beyonce’s loss in itself stirred backlash, but Styles went on to seemingly obliviously make mention that “this doesn’t happen to people like me very often and this is so, so nice”.
Some social media users quickly took issue with the fact that the British musician claimed such awards rarely go to “people like” him even though it’s unclear what Styles was referring to.

Some music fans expressed their anger by pointing out that white males like him have dominated awards ceremonies for decades. Meanwhile, Beyoncé, who on Sunday became the winningest Grammy award recipient of all time, is still yet to win one for Album of the Year.
