The terrace of the Sagicor R. Danny Williams Building came alive on Friday, January 23, 2026, for Sagicor’s ‘Market on the Terrace’, which brought together food vendors, farmers and the public in support of the Sagicor Foundation’s 2026 Sagicor SIGMA Corporate Run.

The activation is one of several fundraising activities leading up to the Run, with funds raised going toward critical repairs at five schools in western Jamaica.

Christopher Zacca, President and CEO of Sagicor Group Jamaica and Chairman of the Sagicor Foundation, spoke to the significance of the event, noting how it reflects the broader mission of the SIGMA Run. “Market on the Terrace is about bringing people together for a greater purpose. By supporting our local farmers and small businesses, we are helping build stronger communities while directing part proceeds to provide much-needed resources to our beneficiary schools recovering from hurricane damage.”

The event brought together a wide variety of local farmers and produce vendors, giving attendees access to fresh, locally grown food while providing a valuable platform for farmers affected by recent disruptions. Attendees were able to purchase items that have been scarce since the hurricane, including watermelon, scotch bonnet pepper, lettuce and carrots. They also had the opportunity to purchase official merchandise for the upcoming Sagicor SIGMA Corporate Run, further contributing to the fundraising effort.

For produce vendor Vinnett Barrett, the experience was both rewarding and encouraging. “It was very good, socialising with customers and staff, a really great opportunity,” she shared with a warm laugh. “This Sagicor market is a blessing. I wish they could keep it every month because sometimes we have a lot of crops and no market for them,” Barrett explained. “So when companies do things like this, it really helps us as farmers.”

The market was supported by 2026 Sagicor SIGMA Corporate Run platinum sponsors Digicel and National Baking Company, silver sponsor Gatorade, and popular local businesses such as Deaf Can! Coffee, Cocktails To Go 876, Bad Dawg, Devon House I-scream, along with Aunt Merl from Hellshire, adding to the vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere.

The part proceeds from the market will support critical repairs to infrastructure at: Hopewell High School, Green Pond High School, Little London High School, Mayfield Primary and Infant School and Salt Marsh Primary and Infant School. Through initiatives like ‘Market on the Terrace’, Sagicor continues to demonstrate how purposeful engagement can drive recovery, resilience and long-term impact for Jamaica’s communities.
