With Christmas Day fast approaching, many Jamaicans, especially the physically disabled and elderly, are still unsure of where their meals will come from.
For the second Christmas in a row, real estate investment company Kingston Properties Limited has partnered with Food for the Poor Jamaica and the Social Development Commission (SDC) to deliver food and toiletries to the most vulnerable in Kingston.
CEO of Kingston Properties Limited, Kevin Richards, said the season is especially difficult for the vulnerable which makes it even more important for corporate companies to give back.
“We have always been committed to supporting our communities, especially those communities surrounding our properties. The past two years have been unimaginably hard for everyone, especially the most vulnerable among us, so it is incumbent upon us as a company to do what we can to help.” Richards said.
He continued, “We are again grateful to Food for the Poor and the SDC for facilitating this food relief give back and ensuring that the most vulnerable are taken care of this Christmas.”
The donation is valued at over J$500,000.
“We are very pleased to be associated with Food for the Poor and Kingston Properties Limited for this kind gesture. It will go a far way for the residents of the community, especially those who are shut-ins or otherwise physically challenged as this time is especially rough for them. We are very grateful and can assure you that this will definitely brighten their Christmas,” said Junior Rowe, chairman of the Riverton Development Committee.
Food relief packages were also provided to the Half Way Tree SDC to benefit the vulnerable members of surrounding communities.
“We are very delighted that Kingston Properties has partnered with us to bring Christmas cheers to needy families,” said Food for the Poor development and marketing manager, Marsha Burrell-Rose. “These low-income communities need all the help they can get, and were just so happy that you were able to bless them at a time like this.”
