HerRelief Jamaica—founded by Theresa White, pharmaceutical executive and philanthropist, along with Dr Kerone Thomas, MD—will be providing urgent medical care to residents in parishes ravaged by Hurricane Melissa.
“HerRelief Jamaica was formed in direct response to the unprecedented devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa. Our team of Jamaican-born female medical professionals recognised the urgent need for coordinated, compassionate, and sustained medical support for the hardest-hit communities. This initiative reflects our commitment to using our skills, resources, and network to help our country recover and rebuild,” White said.

With the members based across the United States, the team will arrive on November 21, with regular scheduled visits, afterwards, to ensure continuity. They will first be visiting Westmoreland to assess the severity of residents’ needs to plan accordingly. In addition to healthcare, HerRelief has also been, and will continue to provide essentials like water tanks, Starlink internet, and generators to parishes such as Trelawny, St James, and others.
HerRelief Jamaica is working in collaboration with other established organisations to coordinate the collection and shipment of critical relief supplies to those most in need.
Meanwhile, White noted that HerRelief looks to bridge the gap between destitution in affected areas and access to quality healthcare.
“Our goal is to provide immediate crisis-level medical care while also establishing a long-term support framework for underserved and displaced individuals. Through ongoing missions, we seek to restore access to essential healthcare services, strengthen community health, and collaborate with partners to rebuild medical capacity in affected areas,” she added.

HerRelief Jamaica will offer a comprehensive range of services, including: Primary and acute medical care, mental health support (psychiatric and psychological care), dental services, medication distribution and basic emergency interventions, and support for chronic illnesses and displaced patients.
The organisation’s board members include: Dr Nekeisha L.
