American Black activist and social media personality Dr Umar Ifatunde formally known as ‘Umar Johnson’ says Eminem cannot be considered the greatest rapper of all time based on his white lineage.

Ifatunde, a controversial character, considers himself a Pan-Africanist who abhors interracial marriage and homosexuality.

Eminem, 51, has had a career spanning over two decades and his well-anticipated 12th studio album ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)‘ is set to be released July 5. The OG Slim Shady has always been revered as one of if not the greatest rappers of all time by rap connoisseurs.

He frequently ranks at the top of “Best Rappers of All Time” lists worldwide, notably in Billboard Magazine.

Dr Umar believes that a black rapper should hold this coveted spot in hip-hop and not any other race.

Many rappers and fans have since come to Eminem’s defence to Ifatunde’s surprise and he is not standing for this.

“I was on a podcast interview. The topic came up. I think it was Joe Budden who suggested that Eminem may be one of the greatest and I said he could never be considered ‘the goat’. If you wanna say he’s one of the greatest, make that argument, but you will not call him the goat of a black cultural icon. You are not doing that!” said Ifatunde. “Our culture is our culture. We don’t share it. If you want to give people the privilege to participate then they have participation privilege but you can not be the face of something my people made. This is not only true for me, this is true for most groups.

But because black people suffer from post-traumatic slavery disease and we crave white validation more than oxygen, we are always looking to annoy some non-African as the face of something African people created,” he added.

Ifatunde says Eminem cannot be considered the GOAT, much like DJ Khaled, who he says cannot be considered the best DJ or producer due to his Middle Eastern origins.

He shared this opinion in a 2023 interview with the ‘Joe Budden Podcast‘ and continues to spread his message across all of his social media platforms.
