Highlights of China’s contributions to the global fight against COVID-19

  • Since the outbreak of COVID-19, China has provided to the international community some 350 billion masks, over four billion protective suits, over six billion testing kits.
  • China has so far provided over 1.7 billion doses of finished and bulk vaccines to more than 100 countries and international organisations, and will provide over two billion doses to the world by the end of 2021.
  • On top of its US$100 million donation to COVAX, China has announced a donation of another 100 million doses of COVID vaccines to developing countries within 2021.
  • China proposed a Global Vaccine Cooperation Action Initiative. China has undertaken to offer US$3 billion over the next three years to support COVID-19 response and economic and social recovery in fellow developing countries.
  • China is conducting joint vaccine production with 16 countries, with an initial capacity of 700 million doses per year.
  • The International Forum on COVID-19 Vaccine Cooperation was held successfully in August, 2021. The participating countries reached intended deals of over 1.5 billion doses for this year.
  • China, together with 28 other countries, launched an Initiative for Belt and Road Partnership on COVID-19 Vaccines Cooperation, calling on the international community to promote fair distribution of vaccines around the world.
  • China, together with many other countries, firmly oppose the politicization of origin-tracing of the COVID-19 and call for science-based origin-tracing.
