Holness announces by-election for St Ann North Eastern

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has announced that there will be a by-election for the constituency of St Ann North Eastern on September 30, 2024.

Nomination day is set for September 11.

Holness made the announcement while speaking at a post-cabinet press briefing on Wednesday, September 4. His announcement follows the resignation of Member of Parliament for the constituency of St Ann North Eastern Marsha Smith.

Senator Matthew Samuda is set to contest the seat in the wake of Smith’s resignation.

The prime minister also announced that by-elections for the other constituencies with vacant seats will take place “within months”.
