Horatio Hamilton, promoter of the Sashi Music Festival, says he is pleased with the outcome of the four-day event held at Plantation Cove, St. Ann, over the weekend.

“I was pleased because the fashion show went on flawlessly, the Friday night during the sound clash, old school style with artists performing live. We had the dub plate session where we had the younger generation experiencing and older people seeing what they grew up on,” Hamilton said.

Despite a delay in the start time of the Sashi Live concert due to the weather and the absence of international headliners Busta Rhymes and Keyshia Cole, who were slated to perform at the event, Hamilton said the show got a good turnout.

“Saturday started out as disastrous in most people’s eyes—it’s one of those situations where whatever could go wrong, goes wrong. That’s how Saturday was, and then the rain started coming down. Production seized, and up to 6:30 PM, we were basically unsure. But God stopped the rain, and we salvaged whatever could be salvaged. The show started late, but thousands of people turned up, and I haven’t heard anyone who showed up complain,” he said.

The festival, known for its eclectic mix of international and local talent, demonstrated its resilience and commitment to showcasing the best of Jamaican music and culture.

It featured American singer Ne-Yo, American rapper Jadakiss, Bounty Killer, Denyque, Najeeri, Tifa, Skeng, Valiant, Kraff, Rajah Wild, and 10Tik.

The last festival was held in Oracabessa, St Mary, in 2002 and showcased several international talents such as Wyclef Jean, Busta Rhymes, Lil Kim, and Eve.

The festival culminated with an extravagant beach party, treating patrons to performances from dancehall artiste Ishawna, Tommy Lee, and Iwaata.

Hamilton says patrons can expect a bigger and better Sashi music festival next year.
