Member of Parliament for St Andrew Western Anthony Hylton is advocating for improved road infrastructure and water supply for residents in Plantation Heights, St Andrew.

Residents in Plantation Heights staged a protest on Monday, May 20, over deplorable road conditions, garbage problems, and water challenges facing residents.

Hylton, in a statement on Monday, said he supports citizen protest for services, noting that the problem arises from the failure of the developers of the sub-division to complete the development with certain basic amenities, which have been outstanding for several years.

The Member of Parliament said he, along with the councilor, have been making representations on behalf of the citizens for improvements in these services. However, they have been hampered by the fact that the roads remain private roads as they have not been handed over to the authorities.

“I am hopeful that the water, street lights, and garbage will be addressed in the near future as the service providers have acknowledged the problems and their willingness to assist,” Hylton said.

He added that he has been in touch with the convenor of the community meeting to which he was invited and believes that action on the water problem has already begun.

He said he remains committed to robust advocacy on behalf of the citizens of Plantation Heights.
