US Vice President Kamala Harris says she is confident that her experience as an attorney and prosecutor will help her beat former president Donald Trump in the race toward the Oval Office.

Speaking at the Women and Men’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), her first public appearance since President Joe Biden announced his resignation and then endorsed her presidential campaign, Harris said, “Before I became vice president and before I was elected as U.S. senator, I was the attorney general of California. Before that, I was a prosecutor who took on predators, fraudsters, and cheaters. So I know Donald Trump’s type. In this campaign, I will put my record against his.”

A brief career background

Kamala Harris was the former attorney general of California and served as the junior U.S. senator from 2017 to 2021.

She became the second African-American woman and the first South Asian-American to serve in the U.S. Senate. Harris advocated for strict gun control laws, the ‘DREAM Act’, federal cannabis legalisation, healthcare and taxation reform.

Harris also gained national prominence for questioning Trump administration officials during Senate hearings. Now, the Vice President of the United States and the first woman in her position, Harris is vying for the presidency.

Trump, on the other hand, is seemingly undisturbed by Harris’ declaration to essentially ‘show him up’. The 78-year-old, who once lamented Biden’s age and now faces Harris as the oldest-ever candidate for the US presidency, remains very active on his social media platform, ‘Truth’.

“Lyin’ Kamala Harris, the Biden appointed “Border Czar” who never visited the Border, and whose incompetence gave us the WORST and MOST DANGEROUS Border anywhere in the World, has absolutely terrible pole numbers against a fine and brilliant young man named DONALD J. TRUMP! Be careful what you wish for, Democrats??? MAGA2024” he posted.

Meanwhile, Harris has been receiving immense support from the democratic party and its followers.

“We believe in the promise of America—and we are willing to fight for it.” she posted on her X account.
