The management of Courtesy Garage Limited (Barbados) and Fidelity Motors Limited (Jamaica), subsidiaries of Goddard Enterprises Limited, has announced the retirement of Ian Alleyne as chairman of both companies effective March 31.
In making the announcement, Nicholas Mackie, senior general manager of Courtesy and director of Fidelity Motors, lauded Alleyne for 18 years of committed and effective service and leadership to both companies.
“Mr Alleyne took the helm of the two companies in the very challenging years following September 11 [2001],” Mackie said.
“He navigated and guided the company through some of its most difficult periods, including the financial crisis of 2008 and, more recently, the COVID-19 pandemic. He is hands down one of the best leaders I have worked with within my 30 years in the automotive industry.”

Alleyne attended the London School of Accountancy and worked for six years with a leading firm of professional accountants before joining the Goddard Group of Companies as the financial controller of Hanschell Inniss Ltd. There he served in various management positions before becoming the managing director in 1994. He was appointed divisional general manager of the Automotive, Building Supplies and Services Division of Goddard Enterprises Limited with responsibility for Barbados, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Jamaica and Grenada.
Goddard Enterprises Limited comprises both subsidiaries and associated companies, which are wholly owned by GEL or GEL has a majority shareholding. Companies owned and operated by Goddard Enterprises Limited include catering, manufacturing, automotive, building supplies and services, finance, and import distribution.
