As the nation gears up to celebrate its educators tomorrow (May 4) for Teacher’s Day, Insurance Company of The West Indies (ICWI) has put out a call for the Jamaican public to assist in selecting three teachers for a special honour.

The local insurance giant has revealed the names of five shortlisted teachers, nominated by their students, from whom three are to be rewarded for the work they do to help build the nation.

Those teachers are Patricia Dacres of Osbourne Store Primary and Infant School in Clarendon; Patricia Gillings of Muschett High School in Trelawny; AnnMarie Stanford of Ocho Rios Primary School in St Ann; Keyshia Townsend of Calabar Primary and Infant School in Kingston; and Daylia Gayle of Marcus Garvey Technical High School in St Ann.

Each of the teachers, from across the island, received a special endorsement from one of their students, outlining just what makes them outstanding representatives of the teaching profession.

With a first prize of $100,000, second prize of $75,000 and third place cash reward of $50,000, ICWI has asked Jamaicans to vote on its Facebook and Instagram pages (@icwi_jamaica) to assist in deciding who the winners should be.

Voting closes May 4.
