Innovative Energy Group (IEG), title sponsor of the annual Red Blazer Charity Golf Classic, helped generate net proceeds of over J$1 million in support of tertiary education when the tournament teed off on February 28 at Caymanas Golf Club.

The funds, raised through the collaborative efforts of Innovative Energy Group, the Liguanea Lodge and the Rotary Club of St Andrew North, and several sponsors, will support tertiary scholarships administered by the Rotary Club of St Andrew North Educational Foundation, as well as a bursary at Kingston College funded by The Liguanea Lodge. The initiative continues to provide critical financial assistance to students pursuing higher education who might otherwise face barriers to entry.

For IEG, a Jamaica Stock Exchange-listed energy company currently expanding into sustainable mobility solutions, the sponsorship formed part of its broader corporate social responsibility mandate, which prioritises responsible growth, environmental stewardship and meaningful community partnership. IEG also utilised the event to formally introduce its new e-nnovation electric golf cart line, underscoring the alignment between sustainable innovation and community advancement.

“Education is one of the most powerful investments we can make in Jamaica’s future,” said director Wayne Wray of IEG. “As we expand nationally and diversify into innovative energy and mobility solutions, we remain committed to strengthening the communities we serve through initiatives that create lasting opportunity.”

The tournament brought together 64 golfers in spirited competition, reinforcing the strong culture of service and mentorship shared by the organising partners. A highlight of the day was the ceremonial transfer of the red blazer from last year’s champion, 83-year-old Gordon Hutchinson, to overall winner Clifton Johnson, who secured victory with 42 points.

President Pierpont Wilson of the Rotary Club of St Andrew North emphasised the impact of the fundraising effort. “Every contribution represents opportunity and the chance to change a life trajectory through education,” he said.

More than a day on the greens, the Red Blazer Charity Golf Classic demonstrated how corporate leadership, community partnership and sustainable growth can move forward together.
