A man was taken into custody this morning (July 8) following the seizure of a firearm and ammunition in Berkshire on the border of St Elizabeth and Westmoreland.
Reports from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) are that police received a tip that men who escaped from the Black River lock-up last month were spotted at a house in the area. When the property was searched, police saw a man throwing an object through the window.
The item was later identified as a .38 revolver with six rounds of ammunition.
The man was arrested.
Eight persons escaped from the Black River lock-up on June 19. The men were discovered missing during routine checks between 3:00 am and 4:00 am.
