Member of Parliament for Eastern St Thomas Dr Michelle Charles has declared that she is a Jamaican citizen only.

Her disclosure follows several calls from the People’s National Party (PNP) and its PNPYO youth arm, for her to provide greater transparency and accountability regarding her US citizenship status.

The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) parliamentarian in a tweet on X, revealed that she is a Jamaican citizen only and was duly elected to serve as a Member of Parliament.

“The latest statement by the PNP and their surrogate represents another shameless attempt to distract from the fact that their president, who aspires to lead this country, remains loyal to and under the force of law of Britain,” Charles said on Monday (June 17),.

“This despite him telling Jamaicans we cannot have one foot in and one foot out of King Charles’ kingdom. Sheer hypocrisy of the highest order by ‘Markie British’, who continues to embarrass himself and his party,” she added.
