Fresh from social media backlash to a tweet many Jamaicans have labelled ‘misogynistic’, Dennis Meadows, former deputy chairman of the scandal-riddled Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA), has responded with a defence of his Twitter post.

Meadows, in a Facebook post on his private page, chalked up his #babymother13 comment, aimed at ex-People’s National Party Youth Organisation (PNPYO) president Krystal Tomlinson, to being “human and unpretentious”.

According to him, while he is a respectful man, no one is above inciting his fury if they attempt to tarnish the ‘good Meadow name’.

“Those who have the misfortune of knowing me well, will tell you I’m by nature a civil and good mannered person. I respect man, woman and child. But those who dare question my character or seek to impugn my good name, will feel my wrath. I’m only human and unpretentious,” he wrote.

The tweet has not been deleted from Meadows’ Twitter profile, roughly 14 hours after triggering emotionally charged reactions from Jamaicans online.

The last tweet made by the former Government senator and ardent Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) supporter on Twitter is a clip of American actor Jamie Foxx singing Fred Hammond’s gospel hit No Weapon

Meadows’ latest social media post has also been met with criticism, as the Jamaican Twitterati continue to weigh in on the explosive exchange between the ex-FLA executive and Tomlinson over perceptions of his honesty in a radio interview.

‘Krystal’ has skyrocketed into the number one trending topic in Jamaica as of Friday afternoon.
