Jamaican rap upstart EDGE is making a triumphant return to the music scene with the upcoming release of new single, 1994, which marks the end of a brief hiatus.

Born James Lawrence, the Mount Edgecombe native says that the track will be available on all major streaming platforms starting Monday (February 12).

EDGE’s musical voyage began in the corridors of his school, where his passion for various music genres flourished. It wasn’t long before he realised that the unique sound he sought was not to be found in the music of others but within himself.

This revelation set him on the path to becoming the artiste he is today, with ‘1994’ symbolising a homecoming to his true creative essence. With his music heavily influenced by figures in hip-hop and rap – EDGE has cultivated a unique musical style that will resonate with fans across the globe.

EDGE, a name that reflects both his stage persona and his approach to life, is no stranger to the spotlight. His exceptional talents as an extreme athlete and stuntman have landed him features in numerous local music videos, earning him recognition and collaborations with international brands and publications like HIGHSNOBIETY and OVO Nocta alongside notable artistes like Popcaan and Skillibeng.

Despite his achievements in the world of extreme sports, music has always been his first love, and ‘1994‘ is a testament to his dedication to his art.

Produced by Justin ‘OooThatsJustin’ Caine and featuring visuals co-directed by Gareth ‘The Truth’ Cobran, the music video for ‘1994‘ is a narrative-rich presentation that captures the essence of EDGE’s hometown in St Ann.

It portrays the artiste’s journey towards self-acceptance and his desire for the same from others, both professionally and personally. The video stands as a vivid representation of EDGE’s complex personality—charismatic yet straightforward, daring yet introspective.

“I want my fans to know that ‘1994‘ is more than just a song; it’s a piece of me,” says EDGE. “Music has always been my truest form of expression, and with this track, I hope to connect with people on a deeper level, sharing my story and the lessons I’ve learned along the way.”

For him, ‘1994‘ is not just a single but a declaration of EDGE’s return to the music scene, ready to share his stories and experiences through a blend of compelling lyrics and captivating beats.
