India dismantled Afghanistan by an innings and 300 runs in their one off Test in New Chandigarh.

Manav Suthar stole the spotlight on his first appearance, ripping through Afghanistan’s batting line up with seven wickets in the match, including a devastating 6 for 33 in the first innings. His spell helped set the tone for a one-sided contest at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium. Earlier, India piled on the runs after centuries from opener KL Rahul and captain Shubman Gill powered them to a commanding 564 for 8 declared. From there, Afghanistan never recovered. The visitors were already in trouble overnight on 113 for 5 and were bowled out for 152 despite a fighting half-century from Rahmat Shah. Asked to follow on, their second innings offered brief resistance at 74 for 1 before collapsing dramatically to 112 all out.

Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav then finished the job, sharing the wickets as India wrapped up their biggest Test victory in history.

The margin surpassed their previous best, a win over the West Indies by an innings and 272 runs in Rajkot in 2018, as India delivered a ruthless all round performance from start to finish.
