Since its acquisition by technology solutions provider Growth Tech Limited in April this year, Innovative Systems Limited (ISL) has prepared to deepen its footprint in the tech market with strategic business decisions and a $100-million rollout.

ISL began operationd in 1987 under the Chang family as one of the first technology tech stores in Jamaica. Over the years, the business built up a client base and expanded beyond its Sovereign Centre main store to a second store at the Super Value town centre on Constant Spring Road in St Andrew.

Garth Walker, executive chairman of ISL, shared with Our Today: “ISL is a brand that the market has grown to trust over the years. We want to offer the same quality, and ensure that when we provide competitive pricing, our customer service is at an optimum level.”

“When we acquired the company, the business was focusing purely on retail. However, the business-to-business (B2B) aspect was underdeveloped and underserved. I would say maybe 95 per cent was retail and the remaining five per cent was B2B. We chose to redirect a lot of our focus and created a full B2B department that consists of three corporate solution specialists,” he continued.

The change has resulted in “better than expected results,” said Walker as the company is now 70 per cent retail and 30 per cent B2B and experiencing business increase of over 150 per cent in the B2B space.

“I can say that we’re now a fast-rising player in the B2B market,” he continued.

ISL’s $100-million rollout includes adjustments to facilitate more B2B services, additional products to customers, adding service oriented products and solutions such as manage services to their customers, improve their marketing, plans to renovate the main store in Sovereign as well as opening a new location in Ocho Rios, St Ann in 2023 and a Montego Bay, St James location in 2024.

Separate from the rollout, Walker mentioned upcoming plans to open an ISL business centre in Kingston in the near future.
