Orville Johnson, then Executive Director of the Insurance Association of Jamaica; Rosemarie Henry, then Vice President, Life, Health and Pensions and now President, IAJ; Richard Byles, Governor of the Bank of Jamaica; and Sharon Donaldson Levene, then President of the Insurance Association of Jamaica, share a moment at the 2024 staging of the IAJ Business Conference.

The Insurance Association of Jamaica (IAJ) will host its Business Conference on April 20–21, 2026. The conference, under the theme “Charting the Future Together – Strengthening the Insurance Ecosystem,” will bring together industry leaders, regulators, policymakers, and innovators to examine the future of Jamaica’s insurance sector.

The two-day conference, being held at the Pegasus Hotel, will address critical priorities shaping the industry, including risk management, fraud prevention, and digital transformation.

As the representative body for Jamaica’s insurance industry, the IAJ continues to play a central role in advancing ethical standards, strengthening industry collaboration, and promoting insurance as a critical tool for financial protection, disaster resilience, and long-term economic stability.

“The IAJ Business Conference is a key platform for advancing dialogue and action across the sector,” said Everton McFarlane, Executive Director of the Insurance Association of Jamaica. “At a time when households and businesses are facing increasing financial and environmental risks, it is imperative that we strengthen collaboration, embrace innovation, and reinforce the systems that safeguard our economy.”

The conference will feature keynote presentations and high-level discussions on insurance fraud, regulatory reform, and the integration of technology to improve efficiency and customer experience.

The Honourable Matthew Samuda, M.P., Minister of Water, Environment and Climate Change, will set the forward-looking tone for the conference and will speak to climate risk and sustainability. Featured speakers include Courtney Campbell, President and CEO of VM Group, who will share expert insights on leveraging technology and purpose-driven leadership to strengthen the insurance ecosystem; Sanya Goffe, Partner at Hart Muirhead Fatta, who will provide insights on building a sustainable pension ecosystem; and Steven Whittingham, Chairman of the Jamaica Stock Exchange and CEO of GK Financial Group, who will share his expertise as the driving force behind GraceKennedy’s strategic growth and digital transformation across the region.

Breakout sessions will further explore practical strategies to enhance risk management frameworks, strengthen fraud detection systems, and leverage digital tools to improve customer engagement and operational performance.

Beyond the formal sessions, the conference will provide a platform for strategic networking and partnership-building among stakeholders across the public and private sectors, supporting a more coordinated and resilient insurance ecosystem.
