The Integrity Commission (IC) is denouncing a document circulating on social media bearing a fake letterhead of the agency naming two Members of Parliament and one mayor.

The anti-corruption agency in a statement on Thursday, September 12, described the act as “nothing short of reprehensible, abominable and repulsive”.

It said: “The commission is guided by Section 53 and 56 of the Integrity Act, 2017, which prevent it from commenting on the status of any specific investigation or referral that is related to illicit enrichment. Consequently, any circulation which makes a contrary claim or which attributes same to the commission is categorically fake.”

The agency is urging individuals to refer to its website or social media page for official statements.

The Integrity Commission’s mission is to achieve a corrupt-free society by preventing, detecting, investigating and prosecuting acts of corruption.
