Jamaican dancehall artist Intence released his new EP, Sólo Chicas, on August 8 via VP Records. The six-track project serves as a prelude to his highly anticipated debut album VOYAGE, due out on October 3.

Tailored for the ladies, Sólo Chicas explores topics ranging from desire, heartbreak, and romantic tension. The project builds on the momentum of Intence’s 2024 single SHH, which quickly became a fan favourite. On Sólo Chicas, he returns with a loose sequel in the form of B.P.P.E.a party track that gives high praise to a woman with the kind of bluntness only dancehall can deliver.

Elsewhere on the EP, Intence taps into vulnerability and bravado in equal measure. Missing You circles the aftermath of a breakup, while Right Now fires off lines at an ex with unapologetic coldness. He softens the tone with Don’t It, a melodic track that leans into infatuation, and closes with Seduction, a raw, emotionally tangled standout.

Except for Seduction, which was produced by Dishawn ‘Speck’ Spragg, the EP is produced entirely by Nuh Brakes Recordz, Intence’s father and longtime collaborator.

Intence will release music videos for B.P.P.E., Don’t It, and Missing You on the same day as the EP.

In July, Intence took the stage at Alkaline’s New Rules Festival in Trelawny, Jamaica, continuing a busy stretch of live appearances. His recent work has drawn praise from outlets such as Billboard and REVOLT TV, which named him one of the top artists shaping dancehall’s next wave.

Sólo Chicas will be available on all major streaming platforms on August 8.

Tashawn ‘Intence’ Gabbidon boasts one of the most distinctive voices in modern dancehall—and the drive to push it to its limits. Born in Kingston and raised in Tavern, a gritty district on the city’s eastern edge, he grew up surrounded by music through his father, Stephen ‘Fada Axe’ Gabbidon, a sound system owner and artist. That early exposure gave him both the inspiration and the work ethic to carve his own path, releasing music at a relentless pace and bending his vocals to match the experiments of his producers.

His profile began to rise in 2017 with Jett Life, followed by a steady run of hits like Talker, Seh Dem Real, Be Careful, and the 2019 breakthrough Go Hard. Songs such as Yahoo Boyz, Yeng, Heaven Passport, Clutcha, and NEW GEAR cemented him as one of Jamaica’s most exciting young artistes, praised by the NY Times and embraced by stars like Nicki Minaj and Burna Boy. He’s graced stages from Reggae Sumfest to London’s O2 Indigo and last year sold out his first US headliner at Amazura in Queens.
