Irish and Chin, is set to host a special gathering to provide support to Ricky Trooper titled “Celebration of Life for Brianna McKoy,” this Saturday (May 13) at 8 pm.

Tragically, Ricky Trooper’s daughter, Brianna McKoy, passed away last month (April 6) in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Ricky Trooper, whose real name is Garfield McKoy, was granted a visa under humanitarian and compassionate (H&C) grounds to attend his daughter’s funeral, which took place last Friday (May 5).

Ricky Trooper, a legendary figure in the sound system fraternity, holds the distinction of being the first-ever Irish and Chin World Clash titleholder. His participation in Irish and Chin events in the past played a significant role in the early success of the promotions company.

In recognition of Ricky Trooper’s contributions, Irish and Chin decided to organize this gathering to support him in his time of need.

Garfield “Chin” Bourne, co-founder of Sound Chat Media, expressed the importance of unity in the sound system industry, stating, “I truly want to keep the sound system industry united by all means and demonstrate that we need to be there for each other in difficult times.”

Bourne emphasized that while sound clashes may be entertaining, real life should be filled with respect and admiration for one another’s contributions.

The event will be attended by members of the sound system fraternity, including Ricky Trooper’s fans, friends, and colleagues, who will have the opportunity to pay their respects and offer their condolences. Many of these individuals have not seen Ricky Trooper in over 13 years since his visa was revoked in 2010. The gathering will serve as a reunion of sorts, allowing people to reconnect and show their support.

The celebration of life will also be broadcast live on Sound Chat Radio, reaching over 30 cities. This will enable listeners and fans of Ricky Trooper to join in expressing their condolences and solidarity with the selector during this challenging time.

The history between Irish and Chin and Ricky Trooper has been marked by ups and downs, with the two entities experiencing a turbulent relationship. However, in the face of tragedy, they have chosen to set aside their differences and come together to support one another.

Gilbert “Irish” Murchison reflected on the loss Ricky Trooper has experienced, stating, “Trooper’s tragic loss of a loved one made me realize that even the toughest of the tough can experience hurt and pain. Holding a sound system celebration of life at the Sound Chat Radio studio was my natural response to the tragedy.”
