Burgeoning general insurance company IronRock entered a new dynamic in its operations with the official opening of its new location at 33 ½ Hope Road last Thursday (June 19).
For IronRock Insurance CEO Christian Watt, the space raises the company’s ambitions to meet an ever-growing client base.
“This new office is more than just upgraded square footage; it’s a reflection of our confidence in the future. It mirrors our culture. It’s open, it’s connected, it’s built for collaboration, from the layout and the design to the signage we have inside. We wanted something that really inspires. We wanted something that feels like IronRock [something that is] welcoming, warm and a little bit bold,” he said.
Watt also expressed gratitude to IronRock’s employees and its multiple stakeholders for their role in the company’s growth, before guiding guests on a brief tour.

According to him, the new office space was critical to the overall productivity of the company.
He took attendees down memory lane and paid homage to the founders [Evan Thwaites, William ‘Billy’ McConnell and Wayne Hardie] by reminiscing on the earlier days at their previous location on Braemar Avenue.
IronRock Insurance Company was formed in 2015 and began operations in March 2016.

Everton McFarlane, executive director of the Insurance Association of Jamaica, commended IronRock on its strides in the industry nearly a decade into the business, adding that the move was symbolic of IronRock’s commitment to growth.
McFarlane also stated that, in light of the increase in natural disasters, insurance companies need to ensure that they are responsive to clients’ needs with great efficiency.
He called for a general insurance service that “…leverages the benefit of up-to-date technology in order to automate and streamline many of the processes that are typically associated with insurance. The goal is to simplify the insuring process and make doing business as simple and seamless as possible.”

He commended IronRock for being trailblazers in this regard and also suggested that IronRock already possesses the “secret sauce.”
IronRock operates on space formerly administered by the scandal-mired Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL).
