It is just about five weeks to go until Island Child Style, the Caribbean’s first dedicated runway show featuring children’s collections will produce its 2022 showing at the Port Royal Cruise Pier in Port Royal.

The event will feature 100 children, 14 local and regional designers as well as two child designers: seven-year-old child designer Logan Watkins from Kingston, Jamaica, and 14-year-old artist and designer Lian White from Florida. 

Celebrity designer, eight-time Grammy-award winning singer, Reggae superstar and son of Jamaican soil, Ziggy Marley, in his capacity as collaborative designer with US-based children’s brand Appaman, will also show a collection at the event. 

Determined to mark the event with even more allure, promoters B3 Parenting has promised to stage an impeccable event with fun, wholesome family entertainment. 

Island Child Style is the brainchild of parenting consultant and B3 BossMom’s Michelle Gordon.

In collaboration with Branding Expert & Aviation Training Instructor Norma Williams, and International Financial Advisor & Runway Coach Brandon Ferguson, the event now presents its fourth staging of the Caribbean’s only runway show as a dedicated confidence-building platform for children aged 4 to 16 years. 

Gordon said the young children will benefit greatly from weeks of professional ‘training and mentorship’.

“The event focuses on building Brand Jamaica, while fostering creativity and building confidence in children,” Gordon added.

“Our mantra is ‘The most beautiful child is a confident child’ – this is what we will unearth in each of our 100 child models. Island Child Style presents imagination-opening entertainment for children, harnessing self-awareness, confidence and creativity for youngsters, in fun and engaging ways.”

The event will also boast a children’s retail village – just in time for holiday shopping with designers and other local vendors with products and services relevant to children, parenting, family and child lifestyle at the end of the show will feature pieces from Kadian Nicely, Shenna Carby, Meiling & Anthony Reid (Trinidad), Ziggy Marley & Appaman (Los Angeles, CA), Lian White (Florida), Logan Watkins, Laila Bennett for Zilac, Theodore Elyet (Nassau, Bahamas), Carlton Brown, Zuribelle, Donna Buchannan for Nahimana and Ajya Rainwear and Accessories.

Coming out of the event, there will be a charitable community contribution to the Port Royal Basic and All Age School.
