As several hotels in St Ann scale back operations or suspend day-pass sales following the impact of Hurricane Melissa, Island Village Plaza in Ocho Rios is assuring visitors that entry to the complex remains free and that it is fully open.
Positioning itself as a convenient alternative for both locals and visitors, Island Village says it continues to offer a full day-out experience in one secure, walkable location.
Amenities include a movie theatre, access to the Margaritaville-adjacent beach, diverse dining options, duty-free and souvenir shopping, a health facility, and a dedicated children’s play area.
According to a release, Operations Manager Andrew Reid said the plaza was designed to deliver value and convenience, particularly for families and day visitors affected by hotel limitations. He noted that guests can eat, shop, relax, and enjoy entertainment without concern about restricted access elsewhere.

Mayor of St Ann’s Bay, Councillor Michael Belnavis, welcomed the plaza’s role during the holiday period, describing it as a dependable option when hotels are unable to accommodate day-pass guests. He emphasised that such spaces help preserve the festive spirit for returning residents and overseas visitors alike.
Island Village management said the complex is able to adapt quickly to changing conditions, ensuring continued access to essentials such as restrooms, dining, shaded seating, and entertainment.
While stressing that it does not replace hotels, the plaza said it complements the wider tourism offering by providing a reliable, affordable option during periods of disruption.

Looking ahead, Island Village is encouraging holidaymakers and residents to take advantage of its attractions, from daytime movies and beachfront relaxation to shopping for gifts and keepsakes. Management remains cautiously optimistic about the recovery of the hospitality sector and says the plaza is committed to supporting tourism continuity during the season.
Visitors are advised to check Island Village’s official website or social media pages, or contact management directly, for updates on hours, promotions, and policies.
